Christopher Weaver, Research Scientist, MIT Comparative Media Studies, Visiting Scientist, MIT Microphotonics Center and Director of Interactive Simulation for the MIT AIM Photonics Academy.
Christopher received his SM from MIT and was the initial Daltry Scholar at Wesleyan University, where he earned dual Masters Degrees in Japanese and Computer Science and a CAS Doctoral Degree in Japanese and Physics.
The former Director of Technology Forecasting for ABC and Chief Engineer to the Subcommittee on Communications for the US Congress, he founded Bethesda Softworks and developed the physics-based sports engine used to create the original John Madden Football for Electronic Arts. Bethesda is well known for The Elder Scrolls role-playing series and Fallout.
An adviser to government and industry, Weaver holds patents in interactive media, security, and telecommunications engineering. In addition to teaching at MIT, he is a full visiting professor in the College of Integrative Sciences at Wesleyan University. He was asked to co-direct a new center at MIT that will concentrate on using game techniques in the development of innovative ways to enhance learning and was recently appointed co-PI of a major undertaking at the Smithsonian Institution that will be announced at the end of his talk.
