Building School Community With Civic-Themed Hackathons

Student hackathons have been a catalyst for creativity and unity across the 18 schools in the Software Engineering Program (SEP) at the NYC Department of Education. Learn how SEP created and tailored 9 unique hackathons for thousands of students in grades 6-11, each guided by the design process to show students that coding is ubiquitous; from art to game design to community causes, there is a place in the programming world for every student that’s interested.
