When we think of games about important social issues, many of us tend to assume that comedy has no place in any treatment of such serious topics. Yet, on the contrary, humor can play an important role in humanizing difficult situations and helping us feel empathy for characters. This presentation will highlight several examples of games that effectively use absurdity and silliness to tell memorable stories about living in the world as a marginalized person. You may even actually laugh at some point. Hopefully.
